Author: Investment Executive

Hillsdale Investment Management today appointed Johnny Quigley as vp, institutional business development for Quebec.

Quigley recently served for six years as the director of investments at the $1.4 billion Lucie and Andre Chagnon Foundation. Fully bilingual, Quigley will be based in Montreal and service Hillsdale’s existing and new public and private institutional clients and their consultants.

“Hillsdale has experienced strong growth and increased institutional recognition over the past 10 years and we have chosen this initiative to help us continue along that path,” says Chris Guthrie, president & CEO of Hillsdale. “Johnny Quigley is ideally qualified to lead our efforts in Quebec: he is familiar with the challenges institutions face meeting their liabilities while controlling risk. He understands how, and where, Hillsdale’s proprietary risk management disciplines can be used for maximum benefit.”

Quigley has more than 15 years of experience evaluating, monitoring and managing both traditional and alternative investment vehicles for Quebec institutions. Prior to his time at the Lucie and Andre Chagnon Foundation, he was the investment officer of the City of Montreal Pension Fund and its representative at the Pension Investment Association of Canada (PIAC). Prior to that, he was a senior analyst at Hydro Quebec Pension Fund, responsible for evaluating and monitoring the manager mix as well as the management of the internal equity derivatives portfolio.

“Institutional investors require increasingly sophisticated expertise as they consider both traditional and new sources of alpha to generate the returns that they need,” says Quigley. “I understand the challenges that institutional investors face in meeting their return objectives, measuring hidden risks and constantly having to evaluate a growing number of traditional and alternative investment solutions.”

Quigley graduated with a B.Sc in Business and Economics from the University of Montreal and he completed the core course program for the MSc in Finance program at H.E.C. Montreal.

Hillsdale is an independent investment management firm with its head office in Toronto. Hillsdale currently manages client assets of approximately $430 million.
