Standard & Poor's fund services has announced the release of its fourth annual fund of hedge funds directory.

Copies of the directory, covering over 50 rated funds of hedge funds, are available to intermediaries and institutional investors.

Standard & Poor's fund services lead analyst Randal Goldsmith says: “The directory provides qualitative analysis of all fund of hedge funds rated by Standard & Poor's fund services and is a valuable reference tool for anyone assessing this increasingly sought-after sector.

“Funds of hedge funds have had a great first half of 2007 with generally positive returns all round, helped by the market background. The best performing funds of hedge funds were those biased towards equity-related strategies such as special situations, merger arbitrage and long/short equity hedge.

“The diversified portfolios of funds of hedge funds can significantly reduce risk for investors, making them an attractive option for investors looking for good long-term investment returns without excessive risk. Our detailed and comprehensive directory is an extremely useful reference tool for those investors assessing rated funds within this sector.”
