Date: Friday, April 30, 2010
Author: Margie Lindsay, Hedge Funds Review

Socially responsible investment (SRI) topped the list of topics discussed on the latest edition of the N@ked Short Club.

The spirited debate about the ethics of the hedge fund business and socially and SRI opened the programme which then went on to discuss venture philanthropy and double bottom lines and issues around hedge fund start-ups.

The priorities of policymakers, banking reform and its potential impact on the hedge funds industry as well as competitive challenges to the main financial centres were also examined.

Other topics of interest on the show centred on the hedge fund industry’s consolidation and whether it could lose its distinctiveness in the convergence.

The guest line-up included Rufus Warner, managing partner at Earth Capital; SRI expert, Mark Campanale; Tushar Patel, CEO of fund of funds HFIM; Caroline Allen, editor of Global Wealth; non-governmental organisation (NGO) and civil society sector finance policy consultant, Sargon Nissan and prose (“Breakfast at Cecconis”) by head-hunger and writer Sarah Dudney while from the US expert Mike Gasior, CEO of AFS, joined the discussion.

Music featured included the Orb, Hawkwind, Jimi Hendrix, Popol Vuh, Gong and Neu.

Feedback on the show should be directed to presenter and host Dr Stu.
