Leaders of Canada’s Alternative Investment Industry Once Again Open Their Hearts in Support of the Prevention of Child Abuse

Twelfth Annual Hedge Funds Care Canada Gala to be held October 29

Toronto ON, October 22, 2015 – Leaders of Canada’s alternative investment industry and broader financial community will be gathering on Thursday, October 29 for the 12th annual Open Your Hearts to the Children Gala – a special fundraising evening organized by Hedge Funds Care Canada / Help for Children.

Over twenty-five of Canada’s top financial organizations will be represented at the Gala – which is being held at The Storys Building, 11 Duncan Street, Toronto, where guests will be treated to an evening of fine food and premium Italian beer courtesy of sponsor Peroni.

All proceeds raised from the gala will go to support local and national charities that support the prevention and treatment of child abuse. To date, Hedge Funds Care Canada has raised more than $2.3 million and has made grants in support of 49 organizations that are committed to the protection and healing of children.

"We have been very gratified with the generous support of the investment community, which has fueled the growth of this important initiative," noted Hedge Funds Care Canada President and Director Corey Goldman. "It’s a remarkable testament to the generosity of those in the Canadian financial services community, and the alternative investment industry in particular, to the prevention of child abuse."

Laura Reid of KPMG who, along with Lindsay Artkin of Aston Hill Financial and Kim Yeung of Kensington Capital Partners, is serving as co-chair of this year’s event, said: "We are, once again, excited with the response from the Canadian hedge fund and broader investment management industry in supporting the Gala."

"Our efforts would not be possible without the incredible support and generosity of our sponsors, including lead sponsor Sprott Asset Management as well as Arrow Capital Management, Citco Canada, Deloitte Canada, Picton Mahoney Asset Management, Polar Securities, Scotia Capital, TD Securities, and many others." 2
